This is the third card I made using the Black Ice Technique, which really creates some unique and stunning cards. Because the surface is so shiny photographs really don’t do it justice.
I started with some Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock and die cut it using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX die. Next I lightly ran StazOn Jet Black Ink across the surface to give it a distressed look. I then stamped the image and sentiment from Gina K. Designs’ Winter Trees with the same black ink.
It takes a little bit of time for this ink to dry, so be sure and wait for it be completely set before taking VersaMark Ink and running it very lightly across the surface and then heat setting it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder. This is what gives it the black ice look.
I added Darice Sticky Back Foam 1/8″ smaller than the focal image and adhered it to side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black Cardstock with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.
