Wish You the Most Beautiful Day Jan

I have a sweet neighbor who is a widow. I try and keep in touch with her on a regular basis because I know it gets lonely being on your own. Her birthday was this week and her favorite colors are purple and green. I had Altenew’s Beautiful Day on my desk because I had used a sentiment from it for another card. It has the most gorgeous flowers and I decided to use it for Jan’s card.

Usually when I use this card I stamp the outline and color the image with Copic Markers, but this is a layering stamp and I decided to give it a try. It was actually an easy layering stamp to align. I stamped all the images onto some Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock in my MISTI.

I layered the leaves and large flowers with Altenew inks. The pretty spray doesn’t have a coloring layer so I used Copic Markers to color them pink. Once everything was stamped and colored I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

I decided I wanted to add gold to the flowers with the outline stamp. This is fairly simple to do. You use one of the negative spaces leftover from cutting out the images and place the positive flower or leaf in place. You then align the outline stamp onto the image and stamp with VersaMark and heat set with gold embossing powder. This allows you to only have to line up the outline once. You simply pop out one flower and place another into the negative space and repeat as many times a necessary.

To assemble the card a scalloped rectangle was cut from white cardstock and dry embossed using the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folders, which is one of my favorites. It was adhered to a side folding cardbase with liquid glue. It adds such lovely visual interest behind a floral arrangement.

The flowers were arranged the way I liked them and then picked up using some Glad Press ‘n Seal, which hold everything in place until you adhere it to your card. Everything except the top flower was adhered with liquid glue. The top flower was adhered by backing it with sticky back foam to provide some dimension and additional visual interest.

The sentiment was stamped onto black cardstock and heat embossed gold as well. It was cut using a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label and an angled end was cut with scissors. It was adhered using both liquid glue and foam tape.

The final embellishment was to scatter purple sequins around the flowers.
