You Finally Hit the Jackpot Wade – Happy Birthday

We have a wonderful couple that lives down the street from us. We were visiting with them last Sunday and found out that Wade will be turning 91 on this Sunday. Wade has some dementia at this stage in his life and he must of told us four times that he was going to work at beating the slots. So I searched online and found this image from 123rf.com. Merilyn said that his favorite color is yellow, so that is the color scheme I used.

I sized and printed the image on 80# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using the Silhouette, which allows me to cut out the image when using registration marks. I added a couple of sentiments before printing. I searched through my stamps and found a small cherry in the Avery Elle Bring on the Cake that would work perfecting in the symbol display area and stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black. Everything was colored with Copic Markers. However, in researching areas of the slot machine to write about it on my web site I discovered that the biggest payout is when you align three stars. So I printed that area of the slot machine and stamp solid stars with Delicata Gold Glitz ink and covered the small window areas with Ranger Glossy Accents. I like the color of the cherries, but I’m sure Wade will know that he has the biggest jackpot with the stars.

In the body of the slot machine I added the number “91” cut from gold glitter cardstock.

I wanted a background for the image. My first thought was to use the Concord & 9th Birthday Basics Turnaround, but it was just too busy. So I pulled out their Sprinkles Turnabout and that worked great. I cut down the panel with a stitched rectangle and then added a panel of gold glitter cardstock behind it to create a thin border. It was adhered to a top folding cardbase. To match the gold glitter used on the design Rangers Gold Stickles were added to a few of the confetti.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the slot machine. I like to trace about the image on the paper side of the foam and then fussy cut it a little smaller. It works great to pop up an image. Hopefully Wade enjoys his card.
